Bulged Eyes
Q: I have developed Exopthalmos (Bulged Eyes)out of Hyperthyrodism since Jan-1998, causing double vision, difficulties in reading/writting/driving etc. Hyperthyrodism was first diagnosied in Nov-1996. Since then I am on Neo-MercaZol, tab-30 mg daily. Presently Hyperthyrodism is under control. Is there any treatment available for Exopthalmos? So that difficulties with regard to double vision can be eliminated. I shall be grateful for your feedback.
A:Exophthalmos needs to be treated only when it is associated with optic nerve compression and diplopia. There are many options like steroids., prismatic glasses, anti metabolites , radiation, surgery etc the options have to be discussed with your doctor.
