Any link between pulse rate and blood pressure?
Q: Kindly explain the relationship between pulse rate and status of blood pressure. When my BP is absolutely normal [120/80] my pulse rate [self checked by putting my left hand fingers on wrist of the right hand and counting the beat for a minute] is found to be 64 and when I feel the palpitations the pulse rate is around 72-76 [BP not checked].
A:The pulse rate is the count of heart beat and normal range is 60 to 100. Blood pressure is the pressure generated by the heart (systolic) and the resistance offered by the circulation (diastolic). The two are independent of each other. The values written by you are ok.
