Am I on right treatment during pregnancy?
Q: I am a 27 years old female, 18 weeks pregnant, with constipation. The doctor prescribed me Duphalac. I am also experiencing pain in my legs and feeling uncomfortable in the lower abdomen. After that, I was asked to take Ubicar. Am I on right treatment during pregnancy?
A:There is no harm in taking Duphalac (lactulose) during pregnancy for constipation. However there is no role for Ubicar (that contains ubidecarenone and l-carnitine). Its safety during pregnancy has not been established. Moreover one should take the most minimum, most essential, safe medicines during pregnancy. I hope your are taking folic acid (sold as Folet or Folvite) 5mg daily which prevents birth defects.
