Dr Thomas is a Gastrointestinal Surgeon at St. John's Medical College in Bangalore, with special interest in liver surgery and liver transplantation.
Education:
Dr Thomas completed his graduation (MBBS - 1972-76), from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He then did his post-graduation (MS - 1977-80), from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh.

University of Birmingham, Liver Unit: 1989 - 1990
University of Pittsburgh: Multi-Organ Transplant Surgery, 1993 - 1995 (ASTS recognised clinical fellowship)
Visiting Fellow, University of Bern, Switzerland, with Prof. L.H. Blumgart, 1988.
Qualification: Fellow of American College of Surgeons (awarded in 1998).
Publications:
Dr Thomas has 27 publications in indexed journals to his credit. Apart from this he has written a chapter, Amoebiasis and Biliary Infestation in the book Surgery of the Liver and Biliary Tract, by L.H. Blumgart and Y. Fong. He contributed in the second and third editions.
Dr Thomas' present practice includes GI Surgery, mainly hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, renal transplantation and vascular access for haemodialysis. His principal goal is to develop liver transplantation in India.
