I was born in Africa (Mombassa). Our family came to India in 1970, and settled down in Amritsar. I got most of my education in India. After doing my Master's degree in genetics, I got married and emigrated to US with my wife. I worked in a research lab for about 9 years. We had our two children during that time, and when they were both in School, I decided to go to Medical School. I graduated with a MD degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I subsequently did my residency at the same university, and have been a faculty member there since 1995.
My primary practice is in a smaller nearby town. The medical students and residents from the University come to our practice for their clinical training. I practice the full range of family medicine, but am mainly interested in women's and children's health.
