King Edward Memorial Hospital
KEM Hospital was established in 1921. The hospital is also a medical institute attached to B.J. Medical College and Sassoon General Hospitals, Pune, and is affiliated to the University of Pune for Undergraduate and Postgraduate training in various subjects. The appointments of lecturers, resident house officers, tutors, assistant lecturers, interns and observers are also done through the academics department of the hospital.
KEM is a registered public charitable trust hospital with a 550-bed, tertiary level multi-specialty teaching institution. The hospital also runs a secondary level rural hospital called Shirdi Sai Baba Hospital, at Vadu Budruk, Shirur Taluka. It is about 35 kms from Pune.
KEM comprises most major clinical departments such as medicine, surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, anesthesia, pathology and radiology. It also has super specialties such as neonatology, high-risk obstetrics, a renal unit, intensive care units for adults, children, newborns, cardiac and neurology cases.
