Will I be able to conceive with polycystic ovaries?

Q: I am a 29 years old hypothyroid patient taking eltroxin daily. The T3, T4, & TSH are normal now. Earlier my periods were irregular and now one cycle is 35 days while another is 45 days. Is this normal? I am still unable to conceive. Ultrasound showed multiple tiny follicles in both the ovaries. I have started taking ETFORMIN for the past 3 months. Is it possible for me to have child?

A:You have not mentioned your weight or BP. As your doctor would have explained to you, you have polycystic ovarian disease. This is usually associated with, and likely to be due to overweight. Whatever your weight, your PCOD will benefit greatly from regular exercise, e.g. walking, diet control (low fat cooking, low fat milk, plenty of green vegetables and fruits). This will then make it easier for you to conceive.
