Q: My daughter is 3 years old and will be 4 in another 4 months. Two days back she was given an injection of OPV-DPT. I have heard that, this vaccination can be taken only after completing 4 years. Will there be any side effect due to this?

A:Vaccinations prevent common childhood illnesses, some of which can be fatal. Thus vaccinations are good for children. The usual schedule of DPT and OPV vaccinations are 6, 10 and 14 weeks, 18 months and 5 years age. This is the schedule assuming that all vaccinations are given as per the schedule enumerated above. No harm will result if an extra vaccination has been given in between.
