Why is my daughter not mingling with her peers?

Q: My daughter is 4 years old and studying in lower kindergarten. She is intelligent, studying well and has a good grasping power. However, she is reserved and does not mingle with her peers. At home too, she does not play with children of her age. She is a very affectionate child. Whenever I try to make her interact with the neighbours, she refuses and tells me to play with her. Kindly give your suggestions.

A:Be glad that you have such a bright and happy child. There is no need to try and mould her into a type of girl that you have in mind. If she is quiet and reserved, let her be. All children are different from each other and should not be made to fit the same model! She will gradually develop social skills and an active interest in playing with others. Do not force the pace.
