Why is my baby not taking breast feeds?

Q: I delivered a girl child in February this year. She used to feeds 4 to 5 times in a day but since one week she is not sucking at all. I want to feed her but my milk is not coming out. Pease let me know what medicine and diet to take.

A:If you have been bottle-feeding your baby in addition to breast feeding it is possible that your baby has developed nipple confusion. The more a baby is bottle fed the less likely it is to suck at the breast. As breast feeding becomes less frequent the amount of milk produced also decreases and eventually lactation stops. In order to restart lactation you need to breast feed frequently and take plenty of fluids eat a normal healthy diet and get plenty of rest. It may make a difference. There is no medicine as such to improve lactation.
