Why I am getting stomach pain after meals?

Q: I am a 28 years old man having a gastric problem. I get stomach pain after meals, which lasts for sometime. I am not getting any vomiting sensation and my daily routine is also fine. I get very good sleep too. But I feel uncomfortable in my stomach mainly on the right side. I usually avoid oily food and take meals at regular time – breakfast at 7:30 am, lunch at 12:30 pm and dinner at 7:30 pm; in between I take some snacks at 5:00 pm. Is this a symptom of kidney stones? What is the problem with me? Please advise.

A:From your symptoms, it appears that you are suffering from acid-peptic disease. I note that you particularly get pain in stomach following food. Otherwise, it appears that you lead a healthy life-style. Some measures that you can follow for you stomach problem are as follows:

  1. Avoid spicy and oily food
  2. Take small frequent meals. Do not over eat.
  3. Do not lie down within one hour of meals.
  4. You can use some antacid tablets SOS.
  5. If symptoms persist, then you should get some tests such as ultrasound abdomen and endoscopy.
Kidney stones typically course pain in flanks radiating to the groin.
