Q: My voice became rough during my pregnancy two years back. Since then it has been like that. I conceived after an infertility treatment. I used medicines like duphaston, gestone, profassi, maintain etc. I expected that this will be alright after delivery but nothing happened. Many people misunderstand me as a male over the telephone. Please advise.

A:The exact picture of your voice can only be told by looking at the larynx by indirect laryngoscopy, or by flexible/rigid endoscopy, and assessing the cord movements. Depending on the findings, speech therapy would need to be given. In case a nodule or polyp is seen, it would need to be surgically treated.
