Why has my child's appetite diminished?

Q: My son is 2.5 years old and he has fever for last 4 days, above 100 degree Celsius. I am giving paracitamol but the temperature rises after every 6 hours. He is not eating anything. What diet should I give to him?

A:A detailed examination would be desirable. Appetite usually diminishes with fever and starts improving once the infection is getting controlled. However, as a general guideline soft and semi solid food not unduly diluted, based on the child's preference would be good to try. The food should not be excessively hot or cold.
