Why does water come out of my mother's nose?

Q: Water comes out of my mother's nose when she sleeps at night. She is fine during day time when she is not sleeping. Endoscopy of the nose and throat has been done; everything is fine. We have been to numerous ENT doctors, but it has not helped. No one has been able to diagnose the problem. Please help me.

A:If water is coming out of your mother's nose, is it from one side? See if it can be collected, and have it tested for sugar level. If that is more than 30 mg/dl, it is CSF: brain water leaking, and needs urgent surgical intervention. Otherwise, it is allergic. A CT scan of the sinuses would be indicated to evaluate further, plus possibly an endoscopic evaluation.
