Q: My 9 years old son stammers when he has to narrate some incident. Normally, he does not stammer while reading a story book or reciting a learnt answer or poem. What do we do to make him share his experiences without stammering?

A:Stuttering is usually a wrong habit picked up and due to reinforcements and conditioning it becomes established. But there are instances where it can be related to a neurological cause. I would recommend that you should get your child evaluated by a qualified Speech Pathologist and then go about the remediation, which is therapy in some cases and counseling in others.
