Why does my daughter wet herself?
Q: My step-daughter has started wetting herself again. It seems to happen during the day about three times a week. It first started about three years ago. We took her to a doctor but he couldnt find anything and after a while it stopped, happening once in a few months. This seems to have returned since the last two weeks. When we ask her about it she tells us that she doesnt remember doing it. And if we ask if anything is upsetting or worrying her, she says no. My partner has spoken to her on her own, to see if that would make any difference but it hasnt. My partner had seperated from her ex over six years ago and we did wonder if that had something to do with it. My step-daughter still sees her father once a week. We have thought if we should send her to a child psychiatrist but since shes such a sensitive child, we were a little apprehensive about doing this. Please advise.
A:Wetting oneself during the daytime is a matter of concern. It sounds as if the little girl (you have not mentioned her age) is very anxious. You should consult a counselor or a psychologist. The stress of meeting such a person will be less than the stress she now feels. She needs to talk to someone who understands her point of view and helps her to get over her problem.
