Q: My 7.5 years old daughter sighs very frequently, 3-4 times in a minute. The doctor confirmed that she does not have asthma. However, her adenoids are a little enlarged (as found by x-ray)though the doctor does not think it to be the cause of her problem. She does not have any other symptoms or abnormalities. What could be the reason for her sighing?

A:Sighing is a habit. It can be precipitated by the tension of change of school, house, viral fever or other minor injuries like fall etc. Get haemoglobin and sputumo tested. They are likely to be normal. Leave the child alone i.e. do not drag her to doctors. Keep watch is some other complaints occur.
