Why does my baby cry while passing urine?
Q: My one month old caesarean nephew suffered from jaundice for about 3 weeks but is now fine. He had traces of blood while passing urine in the initial days. He used to cry in pain too. Now there is no blood but the baby is still crying every time he passes urine.
A:Little babies cry BEFORE passing urine. This is normal and may remain for 6-9 months. However, if he cries during or after passing urine, it needs evaluation. A simple urine test will exclude infection as a cause. You might also see the tip of the penis for any cracks in the skin that may have caused the bleeding and pain.
