Why do I have to pass motion after every meal?
Q: Every time I have some solid food, I have this uncomfortable sensation in my bowels forcing me to pass motion. The motion is normal and not like diarrhoea. Sometimes, it causes acute embarrassment and I would like to know what are the causes and remedies for the same.
A:Your symptoms of desire to open your bowels soon after eating is due to an exaggerated gastro-colic reflex and there is no specific treatment. It usually occurs in people who eat fast or too hot or too cold food/drinks. If so, you may need to alter your eating pattern. If however it persists, you need to consult a specialist and get investigated.
