Why do I have pain in the groin after hernia surgery?
Q: I was operated for inguinal hernia on both sides through laparoscopic surgery in Month of February. It is almost 10 months and if I try to pick my kid who is around 10-12 kgs, I get the pain in my hernia area. Please let me know is it due to winters or I cannot ever pickup weight or it is a sign surgery was not successful?
A:There are several causes for pain in the groin after hernia surgery. These are recurrence of hernia, nerve injury due to the procedure itself or due to clips used for fixing the mesh in place. You would need to meet with your surgeon to clarify the issue. Otherwise, six months after hernia surgery one can resume normal activity including picking up children.
