Why do I have infection even after cysts removal?

Q: I am a 25 years old woman who underwent a surgery few months back because the doctor told me that I have cysts in both the fallopian tubes found on ultrasonography (USG). I opted for removal of cysts because of the disturbed periods for the last year and because I remained unwell most of the times. I have pain inside the vagina and in stomach as well. I took some medicines for infection prescribed by the doctor. Now it has been 3 months since I had the surgery but I still have infection and pain inside as per the doctor’s examination with the help of USG. Further my periods are not regular and the pain still persists inside my vagina and in the abdomen. The pain becomes severe when the date and time of the period comes or when the date is over. The doctor gave me different medications starting from jelly and antibiotics but still the pain persists. Why am I still suffering from infection? Also after the cyst removal surgery, I used to have fever most of the times accompanied by infection. My weight has also increased from 55 kg to 70 kg after surgery because I guess I take a lot of medicines. Please advise.

A:You are either suffering from chronic pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis, or genital tuberculosis. You will need to be reinvestigated by a trans-vaginal scan, tests for tuberculosis, and if diagnosis is not clear still then maybe a diagnostic laparoscopy with surgery at the same sitting if there is chronic infection with adhesions and pus pockets, or ablation of endometriosis, as the diagnosis becomes clear. Drug treatment, after the surgical one too, may be necessary depending on the diagnosis.
