Q: I have burning sensation before, after and during urination from the past 5 months. Sex is painful too. My urine is dark and smelly and my vagina itches really bad. I also have a dark yellow discharge. The whole area is foul smelling. I have been tested for chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Both were negative. I also underwent several urine tests. At first there were a few white blood cells but after taking medicines everything cleared. I have tried changing my diet but nothing has worked. I was thinking it might be my kidneys as I have had problems with them since I was a child. But the doctors won't check them. I took a second opinion and the doctor gave me Flomax to empty my bladder. The pain starts even before I go to the bathroom. The burning sensation starts, when I feel the need to go. If I wait till my bladder is full, it doesn't hurt that much but the burning sensation continues for hours. Please advise.

A:The history of burning during micturition and during sex is indicative of pelvic disease, like pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis, and unlikely to be due to bladder infection. The same has been indicated by normal urine examination too. You need to see a gynaecologist for examination and further evaluation. It may even include a laparoscopic examination.
