Why are anti-tuberculosis drugs given before breakfast?
Q: Why are anti-tuberculosis drugs mostly given before breakfast? Kindly brief me in detail.
A:There are two reasons. The absorption of some anti-tuberculous medicines is hampered by food and hence it is better to take them early in the morning. The other reason is that several drugs have to be administered concomitantly. It is much more convenient to fix a time so that all are taken together. If they are given at different timings, there is always a chance that some may be missed.
