Which form of butter is healthier?
Q: I want to know which form of butter is healthier? White homemade butter, commercially available butter (Amul etc) or low fat butter products (Amul Lite)?
A:Butter is a rich source of fat and calories and should be consumed in small amounts. Home made white butter is a pure form and is usually richer than commercial products. At the same time, commercial products have added salts and preservatives and make it high in sodium as well. As claimed by the manufacturer, regular Amul butter is 80% fat and has 720 Kcal/100 g compared to Amul Lite which is 59% fat. Looking at this comparison it is definitely healthier to consume Amul Lite but consumption in moderation is the key.
