What precautions do I need to take before conceiving?

Q: I am a 25 years old woman who hasn't conceived even once despite not using any precautions. It has been 2.5 years since my marriage. All tests of my husband were normal; but I was found to be suffering from product of conception (POC) even though only 2-3 follicles were seen in the uterus. I was given Hyponidd and Dimet-Sr for 6 months continuously. After 6 months, tests were conducted again and everything was normal. Please advise the ways to conceive this time.

A:What will work for you may be stimulation of egg formation with Clomiphene citrate and ultrasound monitoring of follicles, with intercourse during the time of egg formation. The doses of Clomiphene, may need to be stepped up, slowly. Also if you have POCs, then the sugar status needs to be checked too, and if abnormal, you need to consult an endocrinologist as well, and may need another drug- Metformin. A proper work up and follow up with an infertility specialist is needed. The pregnancy rate is good in as many as 60%, but may take time.
