A:These symptoms may be due to reflux of stomach contents into the food pipe. I suggest the following:

1. Avoid large meals at one time.
2. Do not lie down after a meal. You should stay in an upright position for 2-3 hours after food.
3. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol.
4. If symptoms persist take Reglan, one tablet 30 minutes before the meal.
