What is the treatment for presbyacusis?
Q: My father aged 65 years has a hearing problem. His audiogram shows: hearing impairment (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, NIOSH) - 27.19%. The percentage of handicap expected from presbyacusis is 49.3%. Kindly help me out how to proceed?
A:If your father has difficulty in communicating then please go in for a hearing aid. Presbyacusis cannot be treated with medications or any surgery. It is an ageing process, like hair going gray, skin changes, cataract etc.
