What is the role of Susten and Leusven in infertility treatment?
Q: I am a 23 years old woman undergoing IVF treatment. The doctor has prescribed me Susten and Leusven depot 3.75 injection. Why is this injection given to me? What are the effects of these medicines? Do they have any side effects?
A:Leupride Depot 3.75 mg is a hormonal preparation, which contains GnRH agonist. It is given to control endometriosis or to decrease the size of fibroids. The effect of this drug lasts for one month and it can be given for 3 cycles without any significant side effects. Minimal side effects like hot flushes, vaginal dryness, osteoporosis can occur with long use.
Susten Tablets contain natural micronised progesterone and it is usually given in second half of the menstrual cycle. It can also be given to support pregnancy in first three months.
