What is the effect of primogyn, pimolut and diflucan on the fetus?

Q: I am in my first trimester of pregnancy. I get oligomenorrhoa from time to time. My doctor prescribed a course of Primogyn 30 mg followed by Primolut N 10 tablets. On the 7th day of primolut course, I took Diflucan to treat candida infection. Will my baby be born with defects? What is the worst effect of diflucan and primolut + primogyn on the fetus?

A:All the three drugs (Primogyn, Primolut-N and Diflucan) are not to be taken during pregnancy. In fact before and during intake of these medicines one should ensure that one does not become pregnant by taking appropriate contraceptive measures including the use of condoms by male sexual partner. It is the responsibility of the prescriber to give such advice. The risk of damage to the baby is however quite small. In such cases we advise that frequent ultrasound tests be done to follow the development of foetus just to be on the safe side. There is no case for termination of pregnancy.
