What is the cure of irritable bowel syndrome?
Q: I am a 23 years old female. I have been suffering from constipation and (sometimes) diarrhoea. This is accompanied with severe gastric problem. According to the doctor this is irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). I have undergone colonoscopy, but none of the medicines seem to be working. Is this something common? Is there a solution for this? Please advise what should I do.
A:Your symptoms are suggestive of IBS. I suggest you do the following:
- Regular exercise for 1/2 hour every day. This could be something as simple as brisk walking.
- Take extra fibre in the form of Isabgol husk - one tablespoon once or twice a day.
- Drink at least 5-6 glasses of water daily.
