What is the cost and outcome of laparoscopic cholecystectomy?
Q: My father has been recently been diagnosed with cholelithiasis. He needs to undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy for the same. How is the surgery done? What are the risk factors? What will be the approximate cost for the surgery and how long does he have to be hospitalised? When can he resume his normal work? Will this surgery give a 100% success? My father is a diabetic patient, but his sugar levels are under control. His blood & urine tests, ECG, x-ray results are all normal.
A:The patient need laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It is a routine surgery with 2 days stay in the hospital. The approximate cost is Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 60,000/- depending on the category of accommodation. The normal work resumption is in 4-5 days.
