What is the cause for swelling in the neck?
Q: My mother is 54 years old. Suddenly, there was a swelling in the neck. When consulted at a clinic, they said that it is a disorder in submandibular salivary glands. There is no pain any where around the neck. She is a diabetic. What is the remedy? Is it good to be operated or to take the medicine? or does it show any symptoms of any other disease?
A:Depending upon the size of the swelling your mother needs treatment. A diagnosis can be made after FNAC: which is a test of the gland with a needle. Submandibular lymph nodes may enlarge from an infection, and the infection should be treated. Submandibular salivary gland enlargements usually need removal.
