What is the cause for severe leg pain?

Q: I am 27 years old. I am suffering from a leg pain since my memory touches. The pain starts from left hip and spreads to the entire left leg in a particular time that is any time I go to sleep or to take rest in the bed. I get relief only when I put some weight on that leg either by putting my right leg over it or by some other means. Apprehending partial paralysis I consulted a doctor two years before. He checked the entire body and concluded that no question of paralysis arises at this moment. Even after that also I could not be relieved from this pain. Kindly help me getting a permanent solution and please inform me the exact reason behind this mysterious pain.

A:Well, there may be structures compressing on the nerves or cord in the back the fact that pain is mostly when you are not weight bearing, suggests inflammatory nature of the lesion I would advise further radiographic imaging, including MRI to diagnose the cause. You can start physical therapy, take anti inflammatory medication (consult your doctor), and if necessary get injection in the back or surgery as the last resort. Since the diagnosis is not confirmed yet, the appropriate treatment may be directed by your symptoms. Its better if you can see a spine specialist (orthopaedic surgeon or neurosurgeon).
