Q: I am a singer suffering from throat (vocal box) infection since one year. Is it throat TB or vocal card infection or nodules. When I talk it pains and my voice is decreasing. I have consulted ENT surgeons. They told me to rest my voice and prescribed ampicilin 500mg. Frequent vocal abuse and misuse can damage the vocal folds and cause temporary or permanent changes in vocal function, voice quality, and possible loss of voice. Please suggest me what is the solution and medicines?

A:The infection is unlikely to persist for a year. Your problem could be because of misuse or overuse of voice. Speech therapy taken properly in early stages helps. Consult ENT doctor.
