What does pelvectiasis of both kidneys mean?
Q: What is meant by pelvectiasis of both kidneys and mild hydronephrosis of the left kidney?
A:Pelvectiasis means dilatation of kidney pelvis and hydronephrosis is when pelvis is dilated along with calyces. Both may suggest obstruction of flow of urine through the kidney & urinary tract. This can be better confirmed by a DTPA kidney scan or intravenous pyelogram.
