What does a fatty liver mean?
Q: My 45 years old mother underwent abdomen ultrasound scan yesterday and the impressions were given as hepatomegaly with mild fatty changes and fibroid uterus. What does this mean?
A:Fatty liver means that there is deposition of excess fat tissue in the liver. There is always a degree of fat deposition in the liver, but it increases in certain conditions like overweight/obesity, liver diseases and conditions like diabetes when the fat metabolism gets affected and this shows up in the scan. Your mother needs to consult a physician to get this investigated.
