What causes swelling of my penis head?

Q: I am a 21 years old man. When I retract the foreskin of my penis, then the size of the head of my penis increases. The head size is little less than the whole penis size. I am also getting some white grains at end of my penis head. I think they are pearly white papules. What causes these pearly white papules and why does my penis head swell up?

A:Slight enlargement of the glans penis (i.e. head of the penis) happens when you retract the foreskin because of a little tighter band of the foreskin. It leads to engorgement of blood in the head of penis. This is perfectly normal. Only in case where the foreskin is very tight and painful to retract, we would advise a circumcision. Pearly white papules at the base of glans are normal findings.
