What are the chances of pregnancy in my case?
Q: I am a 24 years old married woman having irregular periods. When I consulted a doctor regarding conception, she recommended an ultra sonogram of pelvis and thyroid tests. The report of sonogram revealed that the uterus is anteverted and bulky. There is a posterior wall fibroid measuring 2.5 x 2.8 cm, endometrium is central and measures 4 mm, right ovary measures 4.3 x 2 cm and left ovary measures 3.5 x 2.7 cm. Both ovaries show multiple small follicles-polycystic ovaries and TSH is slightly high (hypothyroid). The doctor has asked to take Thyronorm 50 for 6 weeks and go back for consultation with some tests. What are the chances of pregnancy in my case? I have been prescribed Ovral L for regularising periods. Please advise.
A:Your chances of becoming pregnant are reasonably good if you ovulate of your own after stopping Ovral L, which you are taking for regularising your periods at present. If you do not ovulate in subsequent cycles, you have to consult an infertility specialist so that you can be given ovulation-inducing agents so as to start ovulating. If all other factors are normal you should conceive with this treatment.
