Sperm count - clomiphene citrate
Q: I am 41 years old and have been married for a long time, but I have no children. Even though my sperm volume is fair, the sperm count is only about 6-8 million. The Urologist prescribed Clomiphene Citrate USP 50 mg. After using the pill for 3-4 months the sperm volume and count has decreased even more. Please help me solve my problem.
A:Clomiphene citrate may cause temporary fall for about three months. Then the count may rise. The best treatment for you however is to get your wife checked up for ovulation and potency of tubes and go for IUI i.e. get your sperms injected in your wife"s uterus after processing as your age is increasing and your wifes age will be around 35 after which conception becomes more difficult. Dont lose time.
Rule out any varicocele by seeing a urologist. If it is there get operated for it. If no varicocele is present then try injection HCG 2000 IU intramuscular twice a week for 8 weeks after talking to your urologist.
