Should I tell my son more about sexuality?

Q: My 16 years old son is quite sensible and mature for his age. He knows that if a girl vomits, she is pregnant. Do you suggest I should let him know more? Should I wait for him to know or explain to him?

A:It is not true that if a girl vomits, she is pregnant. That is far too simple. If there is an episode of vomiting regularly and gastro-intestinal causes have been ruled out, one would still have to consider psychological causes like fear of exams or stress of some kind. No doubt that most pregnant women do have episodes of vomiting. Please do start to give him information about the growth of his own body and particularly, about sexual development. It is quite likely that he already has had basic information from Science classes and from talking to friends. It is best that both parents give him a clear idea of what his sexuality is and what he can expect from his female friends. This is the best time to explain what it means to be responsible in relationships.
