Q: My weight is 74 kg & height is 5 feet 6 inches and age is 44 years. I want to reduce my weight from 74 kg to 64 kg. Please clarify whether I should take HERBALIFE tablets & shake to reduce my weight, ensuring that there is no side effect. What else I should do / eat to reduce my weight? I go for morning walk daily for 6 kms covered in 50 minutes, but my weight is not reducing. My brother is pressing me hard to start taking HERBALIFE products to reduce weight. But I am not taking it because it is very costly. Please advise me whether or not I should take it from cost-benefit analysis angle.
A:It is not very wise to waste your money on such things when you can actually achieve your goal by little diet and lifestyle modification. These supplements may result in health disorders which may include any of the following: Dizziness, Headache, Gastrointestinal distress, Irregular heart beat, Palpitations, Heart attack, Stroke, Seizures and Psychosis.
Quote from herbal life fact sheet - certain individuals including children, pregnant or lactating women, insulin dependent diabetics and those with compromised kidney function are advised to consult with their physician before beginning this or any weight loss program. It is not recommended for individuals with high blood pressure to use some of energy products. It is always advisable to consult with a physician when changing your diet.
Considering this, I would suggest you to avoid herbal life or any other weight loss supplement for that matter.
