Recurrent inguinal hernia
Q: I am a male of 55 years I am suffering from a chronic inguinal hernia My 1st operation was done on left side 10 years back it reccured after 6 month and was again repaired with net. It has recurred twice and been repaired. My right side was also operated but has recurred at the same place. My doctor has again advised surgery. All my operations were done by differnt doctors in different hospitals in India & in Saudi Arabia. I want to know is it advisable to get operated.
A:You have had bad luck with the recurrences. However, if you truly have an inguinal hernia you undoubtedly require an operation. I suggest a careful clinical examination, and reoperation. You should seriously consider a laparoscopic hernia repair.
