It is an alternative to circumcision (removal of the foreskin, which leaves the underlying sensitive glans exposed). In plastic correction, a small procedure is done to widen the opening of the foreskin so that it can be retracted completely. It is done under local anesthesia and if done properly the results are as good as circumcision.
