Is Nystagmus curable?

Q: My daughter moves her eyes and head very fast. She is just 5 months old. Then I went to a doctor who said that she has Nystagmus. I checked in the web sites, there they talk about vision loss. I am helpless, can you please suggest me what exactly it is? Is it curable? What should I do? I am from Bangalore, Can you Please suggest any good doctor for the same.

A:You must show your child to a good Ophthalmologist to make sure it is Nystagmus which is both a cause as well as effect of poor vision. The cause must be found as soon as possible to get it treated but nystagmus itself once established does not get much better with any treatment. The name email address and tel. no. is Dr.Santhan Gopal, FRCS., FRCOphth. santhangopal@hotmail.com tel. 0805527200 in Bangalore. He should give you best and up to date advice.
