Is my tuberculin test a false positive?

Q: Before I joining for work last year, a Tuberculin test was done. It was negative. I consulted a gynaecologist, they asked me to do a blood test and tuberculin test. Now the tuberculin test is showing 20mm x 20mm. Is it a false positive result?

A:The basic issue is why was the tuberculin test done twice. We cannot assume that the test is a false positive. Assuming that the tests are right, and there is a recent conversion from tuberculin negative to positive, a clinical assessment is required. It is also better to go for a second opinion from a doctor who (eg. MD Medicine) who may have more experience in treating tuberculosis than a gynaecologist.
