Is my son suffering from some psychological disorder?

Q: I am a mother of two kids, aged 5 years (girl) and 2 years (boy). After a gap of 7 years, I have started working and my job timings are 10 am to 6 pm. My daughter is fine with my working but my son is facing certain problems. Earlier, when I was a housewife, he used to get scared of airplanes. But now, he is scared of even tiny things and cannot stay alone even for a second, even when one has to got to the washroom. He stays with my mom-in-law till my husband comes home. He doesn't go out to play with other kids unless accompanied by an adult. He has joined a play school last month. He was fine for a few days but now has refused to even enter the classroom. Is he suffering from some psychological disorder?

A:Your two year old son is finding it difficult to deal with your prolonged absence during the day and to being shifted from one place to another. He will get used to it gradually. Children are different from each other and if your son is sensitive, it is better to treat him gently and restore his confidence than to try and look for a simple formula to set things right.
