Is my child in an age appropriate class?

Q: My child is 10 years old but she is in the 5th standard. Is this age appropriate? We got her admitted at the age of 3.2 years instead of 3.6 years in a play group. Now, I am a bit disturbed about her maturity and grasping power. Someone suggested me to get her a one year gap. Is it preferable?

A:It is not fair for the child to be in a class where she is younger than all others. But then if she has adjusted, then she may face a problem with taking a gap year. She would feel a stigma and lose out on friendships. In case you find that she is not able to cope with increasing work load, then you may consider a change of class or even of school. Do take the child's opinion too.
