Is it safe for my pregnant wife to visit India amidst this swine flu pandemic?
Q: My 29 years old wife is into her seventh month of pregnancy. We live in Kenya but she is to visit India for her delivery. Is it safe to visit India considering the swine flu outbreak? Can she take some preventive medicine or vaccine?
A:Do not worry about Swine flu, your wife should just take the usual common sense precautions that are released by health department media messages. She should avoid crowds, non-essential travel, close contact with sick people, practice good coughing etiquette, wash hands several times, stay home if sick and eat healthy. If in doubt she should consult her doctor. No preventive medication has been proven to be of significant help.
