Is it advisable to travel with chickenpox?

Q: Our 10 year old child has got chickenpox for the past one week and has been advised not to travel for the next 15 days. Currently he is under medication. We were supposed to go on a vacation but had to cancel due to this. I would like to know when is it safe for him to travel and till when does he pose a risk to others? Back home there are many children and we do not want them to be infected. Kindly advise.

A:Once all the vesicular rashes have developed scabs and dried, it is no longer infectious to other individuals. This would usually happen in 7-14 days after appearance of the rash. The date you have mentioned seems to be fine as by then rashes would have subsided and you should be able to travel safely.
