Is it advisable to take Plavix for long-term?

Q: I am a 61 years old man having stents, which were placed 2 years back. I was prescribed Plavix along with Metoprolol and Losertan. How long do I have to take Plavix for?

A:Plavix is a blood thinning tablet and has to be taken for a minimum of one year and thereafter most cardiologists would like it to be continued for an indefinite period of time. So I suggest that you continue taking Plavix unless and until it is creating any problem for you, in that case you must consult your cardiologist and seek further opinion.
